Our Tools Group comprises operations in the UK (Spear & Jackson UK), France (Spear & Jackson France), Australasia (Spear & Jackson Australia and Spear & Jackson New Zealand) and China (Eclipse Tools Manufacturing) as well as UK-based Robert Sorby.

Spear & Jackson UK has been manufacturing and selling hand, garden, contractors, agricultural, landscaping and professional tools from its base in the city of Sheffield, since 1760. Over 250 years of experience and continuous innovation has built an enviable reputation and a market leading product range that offers high quality and performance tools to suit a wide range of needs.

Today, its principal activities include the design, manufacture, assembly, procurement, sales and distribution of a broad range of products under 3 major categories: garden tool and outdoor living; hand contractor tools and; Eclipse professional tools. Having extended its international reach, Spear & Jackson UK sells in over 100 countries worldwide under its globally recognised brands, Spear & Jackson and Eclipse.

Spear & Jackson has also developed a brand licensing programme with high quality partners, chosen to support its ‘Outdoor Living’ concept. They have utilised the powerful brand recognition with its remarkable heritage to partner with a range of both manufacturers and major high street retailers in the development of new product categories including garden power tools, outdoor cleaning fluids, plant weed and feed, barbeques, painting and decorating tools, outdoor paints, gifting, ladders, watering solutions and magnetic filtration.

Complementing the UK operation, Spear & Jackson France, Spear & Jackson Australia and Spear & Jackson New Zealand provide sales and distribution services in their respective territories. They have successfully incorporated bespoke products and brands for their respective markets into the core Spear & Jackson core product range to add to the brands global reach.

Robert Sorby offers high quality, made and designed in Sheffield, speciality tools. These include premium woodturning, woodcarving and woodworking tools for hobbyists and professional woodworkers worldwide together with lathe accessories, tool sharpening and pyrography products.

Precision Measurement (Bowers Group) Division

As a leading supplier and manufacturer of quality metrology instruments, Bowers Group is a respected global leader in the field of measurement. The principal manufacturing facility is in Bradford, its UK-based sales operation is based in Camberley, while its Shanghai facility distributes the Bowers range to a rapidly expanding Chinese market.

It operates a number of principal brands including Bowers, Moore & Wright, CV Instruments and Baty. Bowers provides a wide selection of cost effective, quality measuring instruments manufactured in Bradford, the UK as well as offering UK customers a wide range of superior products from third parties such as Trimos, Sylvac, Gagemaker and Wyler.

Moore & Wright founded in 1906, is committed to supplying high quality, affordable products. Its ongoing pledge to R&D ensures that it remains at the forefront of global innovation.

CV Instruments with the largest selection of portable and bench hardness testers currently available within the UK, the CV has evolved into an all-inclusive material testing quality instrument supplier, with cost effective solutions to coating thickness, surface finish and many other disciplines now available.

Baty offers measuring solutions for almost every measurement application in modern manufacturing including high precision dial indicators and other associated instruments, non-contact measurement including optical profile projectors and a range of metrology instruments from hand tools to vision systems.

Magnetic Technologies (Eclipse Magnetics) Division

Headquartered in Sheffield, Eclipse Magnetics serves worldwide markets with an extensive range of workholding systems, magnet assemblies, workshop tools, lifting and handling systems, industrial filters, foreign body removal and plumbing products. Its technical application teams have considerable expertise in applied magnetic technology, thus ensuring most products are market leading innovations. All manufacturing is carried out under an ISO 9001 quality management system and appropriate industry directives.

With a 100 years’ experience in the design and manufacture of high-performance magnetic systems, Eclipse Magnetics supplies critical equipment to some of the leading names in the most demanding industries.

Operating under a number of brands (Eclipse “Red” Range, Foreign Body Removal, Industrial Filtration Systems (“Micromag”, “Automag”), Oil and Gas Filtration (“Ultrafiltrex”) and Domestic, Commerical and Industrial Heating System Filters (“Boilermag”)), the division is supported by dedicated offices based in Canada, China and France as well as an extensive network of technical trained distribution partners to provide local support.
